Pamela J. Lauria is a Democrat representing District 32 (Barrington, Bristol, East Providence) in the Rhode Island Senate.

A lifelong resident of the East Bay, Sen. Lauria chaired the Barrington Democratic Town Committee from 2017-2023 and helped elect Democrats to local, state and federal office. She served as Vice-President of the RI Association of Democratic City and Town Chairs. She is a volunteer and advocate with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and a member of Barrington’s Housing Board of Trustees. She was elected to the Senate in November 2022.

Sen. Lauria is a primary care nurse practitioner at Coastal Medical with 25 years of experience. She has served on Coastal’s Human Resources Committee, Advanced Practitioner’s Committee, and Clinical Practice Committee. In 2018, she received the Excellence in Leadership Award. Currently, she serves as the first non-physician provider on Coastal’s Board of Trustees.

Sen. Lauria was born Feb. 18, 1970, and grew up in East Providence. She and her husband, David, reside in Barrington. They have two children, Jacob and Maddie, who both attended Barrington Public Schools and are currently enrolled in college.

Sen. Lauria graduated from St. Mary’s Academy-Bay View in 1988. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island in 1992, where she was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She was a nurse at Rhode Island Hospital until she completed her Master of Science in Nursing-Nurse Practitioner Tract at the University of Rhode Island in 1997.
