Susan Williams Gifford was born on November 3, 1959, in St. Joseph, Michigan. She is a member of the Republican Party and has been representing the Second Plymouth District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives since 2003.

Gifford graduated from St. Joseph High School in Michigan and later from Western Michigan University, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982. Before her political career, she worked as a Claims Consultant for Insurance Overload Systems from 2000 to 2002.

In addition to her role in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, Gifford served as a Selectman for the town of Wareham from 1999 to 2002. She is also a member of several organizations including the Wareham Land Trust, Buzzards Bay Village Association, Onset Bay Village Association, Barnstable County Republican Club, Cape Cod Republican Club, Plymouth County Republican Club, Wareham Republican Town Committee, Caucus of Women Legislators, and the Manufactured Home Commission.

Throughout her political career, Gifford has been assigned to various committees such as the House Committee on Steering, Policy and Scheduling, Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture, Joint Committee on Financial Services, Joint Committee on Health Care Financing, and Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development.

Gifford has successfully won re-elections to the Second Plymouth Seat multiple times, including in 2008 and 2010. Her current term ends on January 1, 2025.
